Herbi is the Indie Grunge project of singer-songwriter Emma Whitney. 

Emma Whitney uses her songs to rewrite her own story and show people they aren’t alone. When she began songwriting it was her outlet. As a child and teen Emma struggled to express herself. Like many, Emma grew up dealing with a slew of complex traumas that made it difficult for her to feel safe being vulnerable or take up space. Through writing music and performing she found a place to put these difficult experiences, gain confidence, and connect with others. 

 

In her early adulthood Emma learned the power that songwriting holds. In tandem with therapy Emma began to write songs that were truly honest and reflective about her experiences as a young queer woman who spent the majority of her life hiding and seeking external validation. As she’s opened up personally, artistically, and professionally, Emma became convinced that music holds the power to make people feel connected and seen. She hopes that by sharing her perspective that at least one person who listens will know they are not alone and deserve to be heard and seen.

Herbi recently released her debut single Words As Weapons on April 22nd 2024. This single is the first of several that are a part of her upcoming EP. This EP will be released in the Fall of
